Year 11 & 12 Design Briefs

Below are some examples of project briefs for the 4 units and sample assessment outlines. Briefs within this course should always be very open to allow students room for creativity and problem solving.

UNIT 1 - DESIGN AND MAKE A SMALL TABLE

This project introduces students to some basic construction techniques and 

allows them to develop confidence in their chosen material area.

UNIT 2 - DESIGN AND MAKE A STORAGE SOLUTION

This project encourages students to experiment and push their creativity in both their design and practical work. Innovative solutions are encouraged.

UNIT 3 - DESIGN AND MAKE A PRODUCT TO HELP SOMEONE

This project allows students to pursue any design direction they choose as most products will fit into the brief. This encourages interest as students have a personal interest in the project they are making

UNIT 4 - DESIGN AND MAKE A PRODUCT FOR USE OUTDOORS

​

This project is designed to use a different set of manufacturing skills as products for outside do not rely on such a high quality finish or complex construction. The focus for this project is interesting unique designs and thinking carefully about function and materials.
